Ohhhh, my DGD had one like that, My mom made it for my daughter and she gave it to DGD who has dragged it thruogh her life. Finally my daughter cut out the best part and made a cover for a scrapbook of DGD, Now it will live on for sure.

what a shame! It is a wonderful quilt! and looks like lots of love and work went in to its creation, I think the culprit may be poly/cotton fabric used in the construction, looks and sews like 100% cotton and is much cheaper, but in a few years it and washings it just starts to desinegrate...so the good news is nothing you did wrong, but the bad news as you suspect its days as a quilt are numbered. you could scrap photos or frame a block or two when it is too far gone.

POD Mini "danger"

This little quilt was made for me by my mom when I think I was a freshman in high school (1992). It went through high school with me, it got drug to college (where I always took it with me when I was staying at friends houses LOL) it has been through 5 or 6 apartments, and hung out with me during labor.

It has been toted around like a "Linus" blanket for almost 17 years... I think the DANGER of it just completely falling apart is coming :(
