This is wonderful, brought tears to my eyes. It is a wonderful thing that you had a good stepfather. Love the colors you used and the journaling on the velem. Excellent work!
Monica, you took the spark of an idea that came to me on a whim and you ran with it and turned it into something amazing! I love this page and I how you've captured the entire story as if the viewer has shared it with you. What an amazing journey and an amazing relationship. Great job my friend.
This is such a wonderful lo. I love the color. What's more is the emotion it makes you feel. It is such a special bond you have formed and what a wonderful way to display it!
I wanted to do a special page for my dad. It may not be the most eye catching, but I couldn't leave anything out that I put on here. I must give credit to my friend Lynn (NJStampinmom) for the concept on this lo. After I told her the story, she had the prefect idea how to scrap it. And here is my take on it. Thanks Lynn!
My journaling reads: I have never known my “father”, and I had long since given up on ever having that a man in my life that I could call Dad. Then my mom started dating her friend Mike. I knew him as a friend of a friend and I knew that she really liked him. I didn’t think that after 17 years of being single that my mom would decide to get married. I was really a brat about it. I’d had her to myself for so long that I didn’t want to give her up. On their wedding day, I fond out that I wasn’t giving up my mom, I was gaining a dad. He sent both my mother and I a dozen red roses. Attached to mine was the most amazing note I’d ever seen. I was so proud that I finally had a dad that I took that note to the wedding to show everyone. Unfortunately, in the excitement, I left that note there and it was thrown away. I was devastated. So devastated that at two in the morning I was outside the reception hall digging in the dumpster. I didn’t find it that night, but when I told my new dad about it, a plan was made. He went to the florist and got several new cards. And each day the next week, he sent me one of those cards with a note telling me where I should put it. Each time I got a new one I cried. Even by the last one when I knew what it was. I now knew I had a dad foever. And indeed I did. Almost five years later, on June 26, 2003, the adiption papers were final and I had not only a dad, but a father. My last name is forever- more Threadgill. That year I got the best birthday present... My new birth certificate naming Michael Threadgill as my father. Thanks for being you and I love you dad!
His card reads: When I was growing up, I always figured someday I'd get married and have children. In fact, I always wanted a daughter. Even though it didn't work out exactly in that order, I can't think of anyone I'd be more proud to call my daugher. Love, Dad
