Oh, Sue....I am so sorry you lost your mom when she (and you) were so young! What a lovely tribute this is to her, and so beautifully designed! As a health care provider, I am actively involved in keeping the standards to a younger age...., I do not agree with the recent recommendations, and I hope ALL women fight for our rights - together, we can do this! [[[HUGS]]] to you, my friend!!!
Fabulous layout commending such a worthy cause. It takes too many women's lives...as you well know. So sorry that your Mom was one of them, and at such a young age. A wonderful thing your niece did!
now I know where you got those good looks of yours! She was BEAUTIFUL! The walk was quite an accomplishment, great scrap thanks so much for sharing this with us!
Hi, Sue: I've been contemplating a mammogram (at 40). To have one or not is a controversial and hot topic right now. You did a gorgeous layout here, and I'm not sure why I hadn't seen it sooner. Sorry for your loss and the conflict that runs through your mind now as to what would have been different were your mom alive today. Very touching.
A beautiful memorial LO and good on your DD for doing the marathon,i salute her and others that do.I am a survivor,i am sure she would have lived my DIL had BC at 34 and is fine, rotten goverments i think everyone whatever age male and female should be able to have free mammograms
Such a beautiful layout! My grandma is a nurse, and she says to still get your mammogram. She says that study hasn't been proven at all, and that it's better to get a false positive result than to not go in at all. So I'm still getting mine! LOL I think your layout is wonderful!
This is a wonderful tribute to your niece's fund raiser, and also to your mom. I am appalled at the results of lobbying efforts by industries that do not want to pay for healthcare for women. Awesome lo!!
This is a lovely tribute, Sue. Well done to her for raising so much $$. That's amazing! We are big BC fundraisers Down Under. There are heaps of companies that give X amt when certain products are bought. Dove beauty products have a whole 'Pink' line just for BC.
Sorry about your Mum. That's sad.
Amazing Sue!! I totally disagree with the newest gov recommendation, I think is just ridiculous!, I hope every women use just the common sense, beautiful tribute to your mom and what a grat girl is Andrea! congrats to her!
FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome that your niece rasied so much $$$$$$$$$. I HEAR what your're saying about the newest gov recommendations!!!! Total %$#**@*%& !!!!! LOVE this & all that it says!!! Great tribute to your Mom!
WOW....this is such a wonderful layout and tribute! Many thanks to your niece for her hard work. I don't think there is a family who hasn't been affected by this disease. This is a very powerful lo. TFS!
Sue what a lovely page on an important subject. You Grandmother was beautiful, what a shame you lost her so young. That's incredible the your niece raised so much money!
Sue! What a beautiful and meaningful 2-pagelayout! What a wonderful thing for your neice to do. I am so sorry that she did not get to meet your mom - that is so sad. (And I totally agree with you about the new recommendations - I had my first mammo at age 40 and that's when my EARLY stage breast cancer was found. Without it, I may not be alive today. I al soooooo upset about the government.) BTW, you look like your mom!!!!!! Both beautiful!
wonderful lo sue, and such a special tribute to a lady, such a good cause, this is a cancer so dominant among women, and men I lost my 2 friends 2 days apart from the dreaded thing, my mum is a b/c/s, , most unforgettable page
this is quite amazing! the story and the 2 page layout! what a wonderful thing your niece did....as a Registered Nurse, I think we should all be concerned about these new "Standards of Care." We all need to make our voices heard!
What a wonderful tribute to your Mom and your niece. I, for one, was SHOCKED to read that news recently. Both of my aunts that have had breast cancer were under 50 when they had it.
OH my, my mom died of breast cancer at 36--your journaling brought tears; but it is a wonderful lo, and your nieces' walk is so appreciated. Please give her my thanks!
Wonderful touching page, Sue. My sil, Afton, died very young of breast cancer, quite a few years ago, and I wonder many times, today, if it had been caught sooner would she have lived longer......Beautiful tribute and I admire anyone that walks in these walk-a-thon's. Your mom was beautiful... 35...too young. hugs.
My niece Andrea, did a 3-day Avon Walk for Cancer, from Baltimore to Washington DC. It was a total of 60 miles and she raised $7,000. She walked in memory of her grandmother, who she never got to meet.
Note: her grandma (pictured) (my mom) died from cancer back in 1967. She was only 35 years old.
(recently the news stated that the govenrmnet is trying to say that women under 50 do NOT need mammograms. I used to think that had my mom been alive today, she probably would have lived, as the medical field has really advanced since 1967. But now, I think she probably would have died anyway.)
