This 2 page LO describes my feeling this Thanksgiving. The hand print turkey on the right is part of a large construction papr project that my son made in preschool. I took a picture of it and very carefully blew it up until it was actual size, then I printed it on cardstock. I haven't been buying scrapping supplies for a while, so I used scraps galore to make this LO! Warning, the journaling is a bit long!

Thanksgiving 2005
This year, Thanksgiving started out a little bit differently than usual. We planned on going over to Marie’s house for Thanksgiving as we have for the last several years, but this year Mom was sick. It never really mattered where Thanksgiving was going to be, Mom was always there at the crack of dawn to help get the turkey stuffed and in the oven. Without Mom to help, I was the one in my car early in the morning driving out to Rockford. Thanksgiving morning was clear and cold, with bright sunny skies and snow on the ground. It was a beautiful drive, and for an hour, I was alone and able to think about all the things that I have to be thankful for.
God has blessed me incredibly with my family. I cannot imagine life without Eric; he is my best friend, and the piece of me that I didn’t know was missing. Without him, I am incomplete. Cameron and Meghan are the most incredible children that I can imagine. I am privileged to be able to watch them grow and see the people that they are turning into. They make me laugh, they make me cry, they frustrate me, they infuriate me, they amaze me, they astonish me, they bless my life, and I am grateful for every minute that I get to spend with them. Nikki and Simba are the perfect pets for our family. They are loving and protective, and they complete our family.
We are blessed to have a close relationship with most of our extended family. Mom and Dad live only 4 miles away, and we get to see them at least once or twice a week. Marie is busy and in Rockford, so we don’t get together often, but we talk on the phone almost every day. Eric’s parents are, unfortunately, very far away, so we don’t see them anywhere near as often as we would like. But we talk to them on the phone several times a week, and Cameron and Meghan are anxiously awaiting the next time that they will get to see Mimi and Grandpa. We are blessed to have so much more extended family, and we look forward to the time that we get to spend together.
While family is the most important thing in our lives, there is so much more for us to be thankful for. We are thankful for the blessing of health, which allows us to enjoy our family so much. We are blessed by jobs that we enjoy, and that make a difference in peoples’ lives. We are thankful for our wonderful house that has really become a home. We are blessed by good friends, who have really become another extension of our family. We are thankful for the peace and prosperity that we enjoy when so much of the world is in turmoil. God has truly blessed every aspect of our lives, and we are grateful.
So for the rest of Thanksgiving, we got to enjoy a feast shared with most of the family. I enjoyed the early morning hours while Marie and I figured out what time to cook the turkey and the ham. I enjoyed the rushed last minutes trying to get everything cooked without burning the rolls. I enjoyed the chaos of many children under foot and trying to help. I enjoyed the cramped space in the kitchen while everyone worked together to prepare the meal. I even enjoyed trying to find an empty spot to sit and eat in a house that was overflowing with family.
I’m glad I got to take that drive to Rockford by myself on Thanksgiving morning. Everything always works out the way that it is supposed to. Mom felt better by the afternoon and was able to join us, and I got to really enjoy the focus of Thanksgiving.

Cameron made this handprint turkey in preschool. He and Meghan are both growing up and learning so much! That is something that we are Thankful for!

Thanks for looking!
