SHCG: What a great explosion of color radiating from a fabulous photo. It's a super way to use up your scraps and the colors & patterns you picked work perfect together
SHCG: WOW! The story of your grandmother was fantastic and I would agree you have her talent with scraps. The colors you used are complimentary and gorgeous. What a fantastic way to showcase this adorable picture. I have to admit, I had to search for the cardinal on the page, it kind of blends in but I agree with Sharon, I don't think using a "bolder" color would be good as it would draw away from the beautiful "quilt" work you did.
SHCG - Brian, when I first glanced at this, I thought it WAS centered & thought, oh this is one of those times where dead-center works well! So no worries, placement looks great. And as Jesse says, it leaves you room for the cardinal punch. I LOVE the crazy quilt story & how your grandmother inspired you here - you did incredible work on this page! Brilliant to see all your little scraps harmonize so beautifully together. Glad you were able to use that cardinal punch, it looks fabulous. Part of me wonders what it'd look like if you punched it in a more contrasting color, as it kinda blends into the background. But then part of me likes how it's monotone w/ the surrounding papers, because the focus stays on the flower. Excellent page!
SHCG: Wow, Brian! Your grandma definitely handed down her gift to you! You put a lot of work into this, and all the different pps go very well together. My only suggestion is to consider using a green bg that complements and enhances the pinks in your petals. Glad you used that cardinal punch. It's a cute addition to this page. KC has a cute smile, too.
My dad was retelling me about how my great grandma used to save the tiniest scraps of fabric to make her quilts and how crazy everyone thought it was. The quilts would always turn out being beautiful though. He imagined that I was the first to understand her. I opened up my tub of scrap paper, took out several pieces that I didn't think I was ever going to find use for because they were too oddly shaped or too small. This is what they became. I probably should have centered it. I thought off center would be more interesting, but once it was finished it seemed to be one of the rare cases when centering would have made more sense. And I got to use my new MSC cardinal punch for the first time!
