Journaling:
I think we were on the bus at 7am and didn’t arrive in Toledo until 11am. It was a long bus ride but during that time we had a great time goofing around and finding out about one another. Anyways, Toledo was a hard city to reach. The only way into the city was to cross over the San Martin Bridge. To me, the city reminded me of a fortress and I guess that is what it was when it was the old capital of Spain back before the 16th century. Once in the city I noticed that the buildings were very old looking and the streets were very narrow and twisty like a labrynth. You definitely could get lost very easily if you didn’t know where you were going. We had a full day of touring ahead of us and we started it by going to the Alcazar first. Then we went to the Cathedral, Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes, and finally to El Greco’s house. Lunch was at Monte Reys and we were disappointed to have been served chicken and potatoes for the 3rd lunch in a row. UGH! We left the city around 5pm and didn’t arrive back in Madrid til around 9pm. We didn’t really have any energy left to go shopping or hanging out in the Plaza because we had to pack our suitcases and be ready early in the morning to go to Barcelona!
