Quote (from KI Memories Pattern Paper - Wisdom)
A father is someone who walks in front of you when you need footsteps to follow, behind you when you need encouragement, and beside you when you need a friend. - Renee Duvall
Hidden Journaling (title block opens via photo turn)
I knew when I met him, that Rob would be the man I married and had children with. I felt he would be an amazing father and I was shown just this when James was born in August 2001. Not long after his birth, it became apparent that James was not the typical child. He had some significant developmental problems. Initially we were told that James was probably mentally retarded and we should not to expect much from him. While I cried over this prediction, Rob never once believed it. He refused to even imagine that James would lead anything but a normal life. Through the three years that that followed, we have seen many doctors, gone through lots of medical testing and had countless sessions of speech, physical and occupational therapy. All of which has has helped James, but nothing has made a bigger difference in James' life than his father. Rob has always been a loving and caring parent but the most precious gift he has given his son has been the endless faith he's shown him. Not once has he ever let James see or feel that he was impaired in any way. In Rob's eyes, James has always been perfect. That attitude has instilled more confidence in him than anything else ever could, and because of that, my sweet son has the belief that nothing is unconquerable. Today we know James' impairments are only physical and fairly minor, so his future is indeed bright, something Rob believed from the very beginning. I thank God James has a parent like Rob and I am truly blessed to be a witness to their relationship as father and son.
