I'm not part of your critique group, but I would like to add that you did a spectacular job on this tribute page and I wouldn't change one thing!
I have a page that I want to do for my grandfather that was in the Merchant Marines during WWI and this simple page has shed a light for me and helped break scrapper's block about this item for me. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing :)
I really like this LO. It is a beautiful tribute to your grandfather. I would remove the flower paper clip as well. The stitching you did on the flag is awesome. Great job.!
I love the stitching added to the background. The background is very bold compared to the picture (based on it's size); after sitting here a bit it finally struck me how it could maybe be toned down so the picture does remain the focus.
Suggestion: moving tag to upper left over the star portion; adding details such about awards, honors, etc. he'd received over the years. They could be written into stripes to the left of the picture with the year starting it off like a timeline tribute.
Love the double matte and clasps used on the picture, works together nicely.
I like this a lot, tastefully done. I can't say that there is anything to add unless you could actually get your hands on his ID tag. I really like how you stitched around the flag and added the shell casing. Once you add your journaling, you are set!
For my Grandfather who died in Dec '05. I used my sewing machine to goaround all the stripes on the flag. I attached a shell casing from the gun salute at his funeral to the tag. I still need to add journaling to the inside tag.
