This is me and my daddy during one of my gallstone "attacks" back in 1984-85. Journaling reads:

Joshua was born on November 5, 1984. He was only a few days old when I began having gallbladder problems. After having had a C-section, it was so painful to have these “attacks”. For about a month, I didn’t know for sure what was going on. Finally, around Christmas I went to the doctor and was sent for tests, and soon learned that I had gallstones. I put the surgery off as long as I could because Joshua was still so young and still nursing full-time. I would try to control the attacks by watching what I ate, but it was too aggravated by then. By April of 1985, I finally became so sick that I had no choice but to get the surgery.
During all those months before the surgery, I would have these painful attacks, my back hurting so badly that I could barely function. Jerry was wonderful about taking care of Joshua, only bringing him to me for feedings. But my sweet Daddy was my biggest hero at that time. He would come up to my house at any hour of the night and sit on the couch beside me, rubbing my back until the pains eased, which sometimes took several hours. He never once refused to come up and never complained about his lack of sleep.
My daddy was truly a perfect example of the sacrificial love that a father has for his child. I was so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving daddy. He would have been 90 years old last week, but he’s been gone for nearly ten years now and I still love him and miss him so much! I hope that years from now my children will be able to look back and say that I was like my daddy.

The layout design is based on a Pagemaps sketch. The large flourish is hand cut using a Fancy Pants Flourishes Too for the pattern. Then I stamped it with a Prima brick wall stamp. I chalked the torn edges in rust and baby blue. The orange pp is crumpled, sanded and inked and the edges were distressed. The pps are Autumn Splendor by Making Memories. Thanks so much for looking!
