DTB Goddesses

This is my LO for the Rockin Grannies Friend Challenge.

The photo was taken a year ago at Christmas, and we are posed in front of the "Goddesses Gather Here" sign that hangs behind our favorite table in a local restuarant. The bistro was opened about 6 years ago by a woman named Rojean Block...and she called it Down The Block Cafe. I got to know her through a mutual friend, and we started meeting for supper on Wednesday nights there. Within a few months our group had grown to 4...and within a year we had 8 "regulars". About 3 years ago I found the "Goddesses Gather Here" sign and purchased it to give to Rojean. She hung it above "our" table.....and we began calling ourselves the DTB Goddesses. Our Wednesday night hour together is now one of the highlights of our week.....and we have come to mean a great deal to one another. Very often people see us there and then ask one of us later..."So...How did THAT group get put together?" hahahahaha!!! We are not the most obvious choices as friends, but we are deeply bonded despite our differences.

Journaling:

"Around 2004 when Rojean opened her Down The Block Cafe, a small group of us began meeting on Wednesday nights for supper. We have formed a strong bond over the years. We look forward to meeting under our sign."

"This group started with Jean and Rojean's 40+ year friendship, and grew to include 8 strong women of all ages...from child to senior citizens. In addition to sharing a weekly meal, we have traveled, laughed, cired, mourned and celebrated together. Whatever else is happening in our lives, we know that we can count on our fellow Goddesses. We have wildly divergent passions, interests, political and religious views, & even though we often agree to disagree...we always agree to accept and support one another....because no matter what else we do...We are evermore the Wednesday Night Goddesses of Down The Block."
