OK -- here's mine for the friendship challenge -- luckily I rememebered the gnome at JUST the last second :+) This is me and my BFF -- and the journaling is:
Sometimes we are given a gift from God, and we don’t even know it at the time. That little letter from
Maine to Nebraska was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. Our letters evolved from how are you to
us pouring out our thoughts, dreams, wishes, hopes and fears. 1800 miles made no difference. We
wrote, we talked on the phone, eventually we met, and our husbands became quick friends too -- yes,
we are blessed. We grew to not only know, but love, each others’ children before we even (finally) got
to meet. Then there were years when we became “professionals” -- going out to work after the children
were raised. Our letters became less frequent, but the friendship never faltered. Talking or writing took
up where it had left off, be it 6 months or a year tjhat had passed. . Now with the advent of technology,
we can talk all day long, and it’s almost as if I live there or you here. I remember a proverb about
“the man who has many friends understands not, but those who have one true friend, are the ones
who truly understand what a real friendship is.”
You know what I’m thinking before I tell you. I finish your sentences for you. We know each others’
and can talk about them. We know each others joys and celebrate them with each other.
I’m definitely the type A and you the type B and we complement, balance each other. I nver had a
sister, and neither did you --- so we selected each other as our own. You’re always there for me, no
matter what the situation, good, bad, or ugly. I think I am for you, too. And as Pooh said, “If you live
to be 100 years old, I want to live to be 100 years minus one day, because life without you would not be doable.” You are not just my best friend, you are my hero
