I did something like this years ago. Painted flowers on the back of a piece of glass; crumbled up foil paper then opened it up placed it behind the glass; frame it and mom had them in the spare bedroom (which had been my bedroom) for many, many years....hmmm, now whatever happened to them...I made 2. Thanks for the memories...Oh, and I think your purchase is aweseome!!!
This is so neat! I have something similar to this that my grandmother painted. It's a Spanish dancer painted on the back of the glass with some kind of reflective textured stuff behind it (like tin foil) that shows through the clear parts. It's in an old horrible beaten up frame though, and I'm not sure what to do with it. I don't think it can be taken apart for a new frame without ruining it. I just love it though!
very cool, I wonder if it had to be painted in reverse, black details first then filled in with color? otherwise the black wouldn't show through, it is really cute either way, reminds me of Wilbur from Charlotte's Web"
Cute! I have the same sort of painted on glass hanging my dad bought me at an artist market. Mine has yellow finches on it and I keep it in my kitchen.
1-22-10...This is my take on DECORATIVE GLASS...I love this painting. It is hand painted on the back side of the glass with what looks like tempura paint. The glass slides into grooves in the top & bottom boards so it doesn't touch the back of the frame. I bought this years ago at the local Senior Services Center's S.T.O.R.E. for $5.00. The artist didn't sign it so I have no idea who did it but I keep my eyes open for anything similar. [P1222490]
