This year was different in that we decided to purchase an artificial tree after having a fresh tree for 20+ years. I also received some of the precious ornaments my dh grew up with from my MIL. As I trimmed the tree I went through the annual ritual of remembering where each ornament came from.
The journaling reflects that: special gifts; special finds; specially made; and special treasures. They are just one part that make Christmas special year after year.
