This is such a beautiful page! Love those soft colors! But oh my..... what a sad sad story. It is truly heartbreaking. And I agree, they should not be forgotten. This is a beautiful tribute to them. And it's wonderful that you have this picture!
Even after all this time the story is heartbreaking-you never know by looking at a photo what is really behind it all. You did justice to your great aunt & the 3 precious children by creating such a lovely vintage LO-love the framing & flowers!! jen
What a sad memory. But this lo is so gorgeous - what a loving tribute! I especially like the tag peeking out behind the picture and the rolled corners of the the scripted paper.
Such a heartbreaking story. Didn't see that coming and it brought tears to my eyes. The photo is wonderful and you have done an amazing job scrapping it. Saving in my favorite Vintage/Heritage LOs.
This 1926 picture is of my Great Aunt (holding the baby.) There is a very sad story behind it. This is probably the last picture of these three sweet babies. They lived in Kansas on a farm. March 30, 1926, amid a snowstorm, the parents went out to the barn to do chores and the woodstove in the house caused a terrible fire and the children were trapped inside and perished. My Great Aunt Jessie Mae was brokenhearted. In 1930, she gave birth to another baby boy but died nine days later. Such a sad story. I do not want her to be forgotten.
There is hidden journaling behind the pic to the right with her story. I also included a newspaper article published the day after the fire.
