My husband and I have been married for 5.5 years but actually have been together for over 12. Just recording some firsts so that we can remember when we're old.

Journaling:
In twelve years, we’ve been through a lot and like it or not, we start to forget the milestones we’ve gone through. So I decided to record as many of them as I could remember so that we would have some sort of record for when we’re old and gray. Here goes! We started dating on November 10th 1997. I was 15 you were 16. You asked me out and I said “no” as a joke. I’ll always remember the shocked expression on your face. Thank goodness I was kidding! First movie: I Know What you Did Last Summer. We went to see it with friends at the movies. You held my hand through the scary parts. (Dec. ‘97). First Kiss: In front of my locker 1 week after we started dating. First “real kiss”: standing on the stairs near our “hang out”. You told me you loved me only after a month of dating. We were teenagers, I didn’t know what to say except that the more time I spent with you, the more I wanted to be with you. But a that moment, I knew that I was going to marry you. Corny I know, but that is honestly how I felt. First dance: Christmas formal, I wore a purple dress, you wore a suit and bought me a pretty corsage to match. (Dec. ’97). First Valentines: You bought me a dozen of roses and candy and I got you a box of chocolates. We also went to a semi-formal at school. (Feb. ‘98) For our six month anniversary, I gave you a framed photo of us. (May ‘98) First anniversary: Dinner at: East Side Mario’s and a movie. You bought me a gold heart locket and satin pyjamas. I still have that locket and the photo inside of it was of us at your Dad’s wedding when were sixteen. I bought you a sterling silver chain. “Our song” while in high school was “My Heart Will Go On”by Celine Dion from the Titanic Soundtrack. It was one of the most popular movies of all time. I even chose the song as my solo skating performance that year. (’99) First Trip (alone): Canada’s Wonderland. (Summer ‘99) We got engaged on March 19th 2000. We were 18 and very much in love and knew we wanted to get married and have children someday. We knew we would finish college before getting married though. I went to college in Sudbury, you stayed in North Bay to work for James and go to Canadore College. This was the first time we would be appart from eachother. We visited often and you would drive me back in your gas guzzler ‘84 Chevy 4x4. How you loved that thing! First appartement was a four floor low rise in Ottawa. (Jan. ’01) I walked to my placement at Montfort and you worked as an apprentice mechanic at Atwill’s and went to Algonquin College to do your schooling. You got your job within 1 week of moving. (Jan. ‘01) I wrote my CAMRT exam and we moved to Oshawa to start our careers. I worked full time at Lakeridge Health and you worked at Kelly and Sons in Ajax as an apprentice. (June ‘03). We lived in a two bedroom high rise appartement building on the 5th floor (503) @ 177 Nonquon Road. Our rent was roughly over $1000. You changed jobs to Canadian Tire in Whitby (best move ever!) and got your license. (June ’04) Wedding Day on August 28th 2004. All our dreams at this point were coming true! We both agreed that or wedding day was one of the best days of our lives. Honeymoon: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, this was also our first time flying! Quite the experience. (Sept. ‘04) First Pregnancy (Jan. ‘05). First Baby: Caleb born on September 21st 2005 (7lbs,11oz - 20.5”’ @ 7:22am) He was born two weeks early. Everyone was thrilled and you were the best first time Dad. First House was in Oshawa. (CondoTownhouse; April ‘06 @ 1133 Ritson Road N. - #76) First family vehicle (had to sell my ‘98 Volkswagen Golf): 2002 Pontiac Montana (Aug. ’06) Second Pregnancy: Dec. 23rd 2006. Second Child: Mathieu born September 1st 2007 (8lbs - 21” @ 1:33am). After what was probably one of the scariest moments of our life together, he was born on his due date. Move back home to North Bay: March ‘08. Lived at my parents for 4 months. Started a new job at North Bay General on March 17t ‘08) You take the remainder of my maternity leave to stay home with the boys. Sold our first house in May ’08. Bought a semi detached @ 127 Massey Drive in May ‘08. Finally moved on July 18th ’08. You start a new job at True North Chevrolet. The best job you’ve had. (Sept. ‘08) Since then, things have thankfully settled down and we were able to really start enjoying our lives with our kids. I”m so grateful that I get to spend each and every single day with you and our children. To many more years together!
