My entry for Round 1 in Meg's Round Robin challenge at Swirlydoos.
Except for the velvet ribbon and the flowers inside the “nosegay”, everything on this page came from the gorgeous February “From Venice with Love” kit. I made the foundation of the nosegay using Lisa (StarSailorScrapper)'s CHA tutorial. The metal wings were made using the Clear Art stamps, following Bonnie(LaBonita)'s technique. (Both of these tutorials can be found on the Swirlydoos site.) The title was cut on the Cricut.

(Journaling tucked behind the photo)
My sister Jean and me c. 1951.
Back then, you dressed up to go shopping in the city: skirts or dresses and the women wore good shoes and stockings. My mother's favorite department store in Rochester was Sibley's: full of clothing and house wares, furniture and (my favorite section) toys!! It was possible to do a full day's shopping and to eat lunch in Sibley's restaurant or in one of the many other restaurants in the area. All of the large department stores offered free delivery as a matter of course, so packages were not a burden.
My mother made most of our dresses, but for some reason, my Grandma Darby wanted to buy our Easter outfits that year. As we were trying on these dresses, someone commented that we looked like little angels!!! A few days later, the package from Sibley's was delivered. As my mother opened the box and we peeked inside, Jean exclaimed, “Oh!! Our angel dresses!!!” And that's what we called them until they were outgrown.
I still remember them vividly: light blue with ruffles and eyelet lace and a black velvet bow at the throat and a nosegay of artificial flowers on the left shoulder.
