This LO is about the day my sheltie obtained her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. In the photo, Rusty is all grown up and contrasts nicely with the picture on the previous page(The Plungers), where she's in the exact same pose, but is only 4 months old. I Photoshopped in the sun flowers in both photos to emphasize their similarity.

An important point I made in this journaling is that “the competitive seed had germinated” as a result of her success in the CGC ring. I used the flowers and yellow/green spring colors to emphasize the point. Tucked behind the journaling and picture is a scan of the official AKC CGC test results. The green arrow points to the “Check” next to the word “Passed.”

Journaling: Just before Rusty's first birthday, I summoned all the courage I had and tested her skills during an AKC Canine Good Citizen test. The test, held in Heather Farms in Walnut Creek, consisted of ten separate skills. In order to pass, Rusty had to successfully complete all ten skills. There was no partial credit. I was terrified as I stepped into the ring. My fear was unfounded though. Under the watchful eye of CGC evaluator Pam H…., Rusty breezed through all ten sections to achieve the designation of CANINE GOOD CITIZEN. I was so proud of my little girl! She was growing up. I could not hold back the tears as I called her dad to report the good news. I could hardly believe it. All the dedication had paid off and the competitive seed had germinated. The possibilities seemed endless. I was not yet able to imagine the hard work that lay ahead.
