What a wonderful story, and how touching to see (and to think about taking a photo to record it too!). Such a special scene - I love how you journalled.
What a beautiful son you have to come up with that at not yet 4 yoa! I love this story. When I saw the bg paper, I assumed you had stamped all those stars! That was a great dollar store find. This is such a sweet and meaningful page. Your own manger scene is pretty great, too. Love the song lyrics. Wonderful work.
This is soo sweet and so cute!! That background paper was perfect for this page- good thing you hung on to it! Love your little manger scene- your paper piecing is always soo cute! The pic and journaling are really sweet, too! Fantastic work! To my faves!
This lo is adorable and I love the story behind it and how you were able to journal it on the page! Just shows you don't have to spend a fortune to do a great lo!
the journaling is so sweet, i about cried! the sweet sweet things our kiddos did when they were young, just melts our hearts! shows what a wonderful sweet man he would become--your page is magic!!
Journaling reads: "Just before Christmas of 1995, Benjamin, you were not quite four years old and very excited about the upcoming holiday. One day you came and asked me to come to your room and see what you had made. Once there, you proudly showed me your 'manger scene'. You had made the stable using a blanket, clothespins and chairs. Your baby doll was 'Baby Jesus' and the 'animals' were all gathered around. There was even a star on top. This photo is priceless to me. It was such a wonderful feeling to know that even at such a young age, you knew the true meaning of Christmas. May you always remember that." Journaled by Mama - February 2010.
The background pp is from a pkg from the $ store, which I later wondered why I'd bought it. I guess it was for this layout, because to me it worked out perfectly. I paper pieced the little manger scene, using an old applique pattern (from my sewing days) that I reduced 50% to fit the page. All of the little pieces are inked and doodled. I used a gold metallic pen on the halo around the baby and the star. I know this is a very simple page, but I really love how it turned out. TFL!!!
