This is a great layout! After the fourth sentence, I had to stop because I teared up! It is so hard to put into words how you feel when you leave your family, especially your children. I hope that others (not affiliated with the military) read this to get a small sampling of what military families go through. Beautiful journaling!!!!
Wow, you made me cry. I am a wife of a United States Marine and mother of three. A five year old a 20 month old and now a three month old. I know the shoes your sister in law fills. Explaining to a child is hard. When my husband came home from Iraq and went back to work my daughter cried every morning when he left because she did not understand that he would be home that evening, because the lastt ime her daddy went ot work he was gone for a year. So I started telling her that her daddy was at work and would be home for dinner. That really helped. Your page is beautiful. Thanks for noticing that his family has it just as hard as he does.
Oh-my-goodness! Your journaling is so exquisit. What an honor to your husband, children, family to display these thoughts in such an honest manner. Am wondering if you've considered displaying these in your home until his return...
Perfect LO! I completely understand the difficulty you all are going through. I'll pray that he comes home safe and sound. And girl that journalling is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this with us all.
This is an AMAZING layout. The journaling brought tears to my eyes! What a way to honor your brother his family, and his service(and theirs) to this country! He will be in my prayers for a safe return!
i'm in the same situation. my dh just left a few days ago for iraq, me and my 8 month old are home with no family around. so this really touched my heart and made me cry. i love this lo and the journalling is great
Journaling: "How do you tell your sons that you are going to work now and that you won’t be back for a year? How do you explain that to a four year old, let alone a 16 month old? Do you tell them that you might never be back, or do you hide from them the danger that you are in? It’s a dilemma almost every soldier faces at some point. They leave to do their duty, but they leave behind their families to carry-on without them. My Brother is one of those soldiers. His Name is Capt. Thomas John Swint of the 101st Airborne Division. He recently deployed to Iraq. These pictures were taken at during a stolen moment at the Nashville Zoo about a week before he left. This wasn’t TJ’s first deployment, but it was his first assignment in a dangerous area. He had previously been deployed to Honduras for 12 months. I know he loves his boys, and his boys miss him terribly. I think that it’s harder on Will than Ryan because will is old enough to understand more. Will has picked up on the fact that where Daddy is “is not nice”. He has told his daddy to come home so that they can play. Ryan thankfully is young enough that as he gets older he won’t remember this time as much. He still misses his daddy, but it’s just not quite as hard on him as it is on Will. Brandi stays strong through it all. She handles a moody four year old, and plays with the sometimes subdued now 21 month old. She takes Will to preschool, and takes care of Ryan at home. I know it’s hard on her, but she’s said that the boys help keep her sane, and without them things would be a lot harder. TJ will be back in September, and the boys will be able to play with him as much as they want. And he in return, will be able to hold them again, knowing that in some small way he has helped make the world a better place for them to grow up in."
