The 1st of page of the Baby Album I am making for my son Killian.

For this page, I have asked my husband to write the journaling as he writes beautifully . We want this album to be a present from the two of us, so I do the scrapbooking and he works on all the journaling.

Journaling reads:

In life, we often recount the moments that change us, or inspire us to greatness. It is, all too often, a task that we find difficult. After all, what moments can we truly claim to be all inspiring and stupendous? On a warm July day, July 15th 2008 to be more precise, I found such a moment, took that moment in my heart, and locked it safely away. This moment was to be the beginning of a journey and a new path, one I indeed had dreamt of for a large part of my life.
I recall how ordinary the day was. That said I also remember being overwhelmed by my feeling of unease. You see on July 15th, 2008, Mommy and I were due to attend a barbeque in the house we were living in. We spent much of the early part of the day, held up in our room, converting it to a cave, in a vain attempt to avoid the inevitable. The house was filling up. Voices began echoing around. Whispers turned to drones. Laura, our irritating housemate was laughing in her usual ear shattering way. Damian, our landlord was busily preparing the food while Stuart ran the show and organised the drinks and lit up the BBQ.
Unbeknownst to myself, your Mommy, had bought a pregnancy test. This act was not something she had dwelled on for a long time, nor was it a spur of the moment act. It was, perhaps a reaction to a feeling. We had longed for a child and had spent the best part of 15 months trying, without success. Your Mommy had gotten the test because of how her body was feeling but she didn't believe, even for a moment that it might come back positive. She daren't not believe.
I swallowed my pride and bit the bullet. I went out all smiles and hugs and kisses, as if Laura and I were the best of friends and this day was the best day ever. This façade would later become a reality and grow in greatness to extraordinary levels.
As I stood in-between the door to the garden and the garden itself, your Mommy approached me. Her look was intense, powerful and compelling. At first, I feared there was a problem. She called me inside and stood facing me, my hands on her waist.
“We're going to have a baby”, she said with glistening eyes.
“Are you sure?”, I asked in disbelief.
She then showed me the test and our hearts were fused together in a moment of completeness, the kind of which I had only ever dreamt of. We went outside and broke the news to the others. We laughed and cried. Held one another and imagined the impossible, which had suddenly become our reality. Family and friends were called and the world rejoiced. The sun shone brighter that day than ever before.
The sun was to again shine bright the day you, Killian, were born… but that is a story, for another day.
