This is a picture of my grandmother Jacomina, well within her nineties and still enjoying life to the fullest. I think one of the reasons she lived to be 100 years of age is that she appreciated the small things in life so much She was never grumpy and not a day went by without her singing to herself. She loved nature. A singing bird, a blossoming tree, a babbling brook, a sunset, she always took her time to enjoy it all. She loved to cook. Her vegetable soup was the best I ever had. If only I had her recipes… She loved animals. Dogs, cats, birds, they were all sure to get her attention. She loved writing letters on pretty stationary, and her poster stamps would always match. She loved the scent of lavender and lily’s and her sweet cologne. But most of all, she loved life. There’s not a single doubt in my mind that she got everything out of life she possibly could. She’s the most contented person I have ever known...
