Journaling:
Our shuttle picked us up from the airport and many of us were tired from the flight but not me! I couldn’t wait to see the hotel room and to freshen up a bit. Boy was I disappointed by our rooms at the Hotel Asturias. Gail wrote in her diary that the place stunk and was a dump and I agree with those descriptives. I just remember thinking that the rooms were sooo bare and dingy. Just look how dirty the windows were in the picture of me! The bathroom was a shared one down the hall which was unisex and clean but bare as well. I did some research on the hotel and it was rated a 3 star but I wonder what it was rated back in 1990 fifteen years ago. Gail and I were roommates and I remember her taking this picture of me in front of our window. I can’t help but laugh at my appearance! Boy have I changed.
Well we landed in Madrid right on schedule and we were hurried along to the baggage claim to collect our things so that we could meet our shuttle to take us to our hotel. We were on a small plane so we had to actually walk off the plane on the runway and then walk up these huge stairs to get into the airport. I remember gathering all together for a head count before walking up the stairs and that is where the one pic is taken. The other 2 pics were of us in the airport either before or after we collected our luggage. I can’t believe the clothes that we wore…..especially me!
