Breaking out of my mold here, ditching the kiddie pics and taking on a lift of Craftysprinkles' LO “Sweet Princess.” Lots of inking, stamping, doodling and a bit of distressing. The chipboard swirls were grey and I altered them with ink, a brown zig, a signo, stickles and pearls so they'd coordinate better to the page

I have never met the girl pictured here, but my father did. I believe her kindness in the midst of great adversity helped shaped the man he became. Dad said she was only about 10 and he never forgot strong, brave, scrappy Toh.

The journaling says: My father met this young school girl named Toh in 1968 while stationed near the DMZ during the Vietnam War. She befriended my father and before he left her village, she embroidered a handkerchief with his initials and had this photo made for him.

My father was always a great storyteller and as a child, I loved hearing tales of his adventures. It was usually easy to pull a story from him, but he would never say much about the war. The one story he would tell was the tale of Toh. He never forgot her kindness to a young marine.
