Lovely tribute to your great-grandparents. I don't know very much about my family. So I think it awesome that you know where you came from. Lovely page. :)
Such a wonderful tribute to two amazing and inspirational people!!! Love all of the wonderful elements in this stunning design, especially the stitching and pleated ribbon!!!
What a beautiful (and touching) tribute to your great-grandparents. Someone must have snapped their picture on the sly! I've read that the Amish do not want their photo taken. I'm so glad you have this one image to create this awesome LO. I love it!
It is a very beautiful layout and such a wonderful tribute to your great grandparents. However, I am surprised you have photos. The Amish that were in our community did not want their photos taken at all. My parents were very good friends with some of the Amish here and they would get very upset if they thought someone was taking their photo.
This is such an amazing page in so many ways. The design is just wonderful, beautiful pps and lovely details like the banner and metal elements. The sentiment you expressed in your journalling is very touching. Thank you for sharing! This lo is totally inspirational on many levels.
an emotional layout and tribute to my paternal great-grandparents who were Amish. I've always had such an overwhelming sense of obligation and gratitude toward them. This is one of the few photographs I have of them together which happens to be at their winter home in Sarasota, FL. They both had an unbreakable pioneer spirit and their lives would make an awesome movie. My great-grandfather was orphaned at a young age and pledged to his mother on her deathbed that he would stay Amish. He & his brother survived unspeakable horrors as orphans he eventually ran away and traveled the midwest looking for work. He married my great-grandmother when she was 14. The early days of their married life included living in OK and CO and all the frontier challenges of that day (can we say rattlesnakes and buffalo!) and they had 12 children which has given me hundreds of cousins...some I have never met. The journaling reads " When I meet you both for the first time, my first words will be THANK YOU for persevering. THANK YOU for the gifts of joy, laughter, compassion and a pioneering spirit. THANK YOU for loving God and teaching your children to honor the Lord. THANK YOU for considering generations to come and leaving your legacy." I used a lot of products from the beautiful new Noel Mignon May "playdate" kit and some items from a Studio Calico add-on kit.
