POD...APR #12/15...Roosevelt Elk

4-17-10...Roosevelt Elk, the largest sub-species of Elk in North America. These Elk live year-round on the Conboy National Wildlife Refuge. However, if they happen to wander off of refuge land they are "free game" during hunting season. It is against the law to shoot an Elk when its on the refuge but believe me people still try. It's hard to tell the bulls from the cows this time of year because the bulls antlers haven't started growing yet. [P4177558]
