do you take the ribbon off of every roll then? I think that is awesome. I just bought 1 pants hanger (I don't have a ton of ribbon) and I put the spools on it but I can see how that would get annoying to have to take them all off to get to the empty one.
This idea is FANTASTIC!! I've been set on having my ribbon hanging up like that, but your idea of using the hangers is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing!
This is the easiest, most efficient, most inexpensive way I've found to store my ribbon.
The two pants hangers were purchased at Wally World for $5 each. I used my craft knife to slice off the rubber guards that came on the rungs because it was easier to organize and arrange the ribbon on the rungs without the non-slip guards. I hung the 1st hanger on a robe hook behind my office door. Then I hung the 2nd hanger at the same height on the wall perpendicular to the door, using a wall-mountable robe hook. This way, if the door is open, the ribbon is completely hidden behind the door. If the door is shut (when I'm working), I can quickly and easily see exactly what ribbon I have, without even having to get up from my desk.
I organize each rung according to color family (1st rung - pink, 2nd rung - red, then orange, yellow, green for the 1st hanger. Blue, purple, brown/black, gold/silver, white/cream for the second hanger). I just tie each ribbon onto its appropriate space on a rung, and cut pieces from the hanging ends, as I need them. No more sliding ribbon rolls on or off of dowels! :) TFL
