I love your LO so much and all the nostalgia it represents. I have an old set of McGuffy Readers that I feel attached to also. I learned to read using those books and remember my teacher, Mrs. Rawson, with the greatest affection. I'm an avid reader to this day and I think that would please my dear old teacher. So glad you scrapped this important piece of your past!
This is a lo about one of my most prized possessions. The journaling reads: I cannot begin to explain how much this old book means to me. It was my second grade reader. It is tattered and worn, but holds so many memories. I don't know if I was a good reader or not. I just know that i loved the stories in this book. As I was reading some of them tonight, I noticed how every story had to do with obedience to ones' parents or good citizenship. No doubt that these stories were well thought out as they were written by a nun. She really must have understood children. The stories were meant to touch your heart. At least it did mine. It taught me the importance of telling the truth, and obeying my parents and God. This book shaped who I am.
