How nice to have these to pass down and I love what you did with the pictures from the past to show how they have been lovingly used through the years! Really nice layout!
Love the busy look of this page. There's so much to look at, but it stays true to the concept of "it's about the pictures." How wonderful that you have some old photos to tie the past and present together with this special heirloom.
This is flat out spectacular! The look, the concept -- I really love how the little pics are not 'of' the canisters but are obviously from the bg of other photos. You really get the sense of them always being there! The colors and title work are gorgeous! Faves!
wow, love this! everything is so cool! I love your distressing and I love the title! so many cool elements I can't pick just one to comment on all around fun/cool lo!
How neat that you were able to use a family heirloom to scrap for this challenge! I love your take on the sketch, your beautiful color scheme, and the way that you have shown how much these simple objects mean in your life. Thanks for sharing this. It's really lovely!
Jenny this is fantastic...love the title and the title work. The new photo is a great shot and nice work on the older little photos. I love how your journaling is on a recipe card and the title letters are the tablecloth print. Beautiful topic to scrap.
This lo was done for the "Week Long Challenge!" (Create one brand new layout that has a picture of a thing, not a person. ) and for the "**~MAY MONTHLY SKETCH CHALLENGE-!!~~** " (Week 1 - using this sketch http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/409787/view/2733697/-1.html ) WITH THE TWIST - ***Optional twist~Distress, distress, distress! Use 5 or more types of distressing on your LO.
My distressing was: Tearing - on the recipe pp (under Memory) Distress - used the Making Memories distressing tools around edges of background Ink - on the scalloped word pp, using a dark brown and around the lined pp using a variety of Distress Inks Sand - around edges or Coredinations cs mats for small pics Crumple - the recipe pp (under Memory) Chalk - On tags, journaling strips, chipboard flourish, and around the pic Other - applied adhesive tape to areas of photo border, then roughed the tape up with my finger, then applied chalk.
The flowers were a gift from my good friend, Michelle!! Thanks, Michelle!
The pictures are of a set of spice canisters my mom received as a wedding gift. She always used them in her kitchen. After she died, my dad gave them to me and I now use them in my kitchen..yep, they have spices in them! My "current" photo is one I took last year for a photo challenge on sb.com, the older pics are where I could spot the canisters in the background of old snapshots, so I cropped the pics to highlight the canisters (had to get rid of the people to work with the Week Long Challenge LOL). One pic is from when I was a baby and the other was when I was a teenager.
