Love the colors and those boots! And your journaling is perfect. With your words (and without any pictures) you captured a very interesting and turning point in your life! Isn't it funny what music does to you?
Growing up I was never a fan of country music. In fact, on more than one occasion, I vowed I hated country music and would never listen to it!
On August 14, 1999 I attended the Lilith Fair at Pine Knob in Clarkston, Michigan with my best friend DeeAnn. She was a big Sarah McLachlan fan and asked me to attend the concert with her. We had a great time. Surprisingly, my favorite act of the night was the Dixie Chicks! I was torn. I felt very strongly about my hatred of country music… but the Dixie Chicks were so fun and entertaining! It was at that concert that I first heard Goodbye Earl, which made me laugh out loud!
In the months that followed, I bought and listened to my first two Dixie Chicks CDs. I became more and more hooked and found myself listening to country music radio stations while at work, partly because my coworkers were country music fans. I found myself liking more and more songs by artists other than the Dixie Chicks. My worst nightmare was coming true: I was becoming a country music fan!!
Around the same time, my mom was also slowly becoming a country music fan. She developed quite an interest in Brooks & Dunn. For her birthday in 2001 I decided she would enjoy going to see Brooks & Dunn’s Neon Circus and Wild West show at the DTE Energy Music Theater (formerly Pine Knob). And thus began our country concert obsession.
