SHCG: I love this page, esp how the picture just gives us a glimpse of you guys. Great that you added the song and all the papers/embellis are great :)
SHCG: I am sorry but the body with no head in the photo just bothers me. You could tucked the photo under the pattern paper. I LUV the page and the photo but my eye keeps going right back to that headless shoudler.
SHCG: Wonderful page... great photo to go with the song! I really like the colors and the touch of shine. The paisley stamp looks perfect where you put it. :) The only thing that I would have done differently would be to print the lyrics directly onto the green paper below the title so that the line up with it.
SHCG: What a great song and lo! I love the pps that you used-very summery and happy-just great with the song and pic! I love the picture-the angle is great-you , happy, to be on a boat with your sweet dh... perfect! Let's not forget to mention that the blue in th epic gets so much more bluer with the yellow pps. I love your title and the stamp that you use there! I think the title can come a bit closer to the journaling block. Also, one more suggestion-ink the song block with the same blue as the pic and journaling. The sliver , holographic trim is great here too! Great page!
SHCG: I love your smile on this picture. You look so happy and refreshed! On this page, I love that paisley stamp and think you should add some additional stamp work to this page! I also wonder what would happen if you straightened your pic and journaling just a little bit. With your song one way and your pic the other way, it kind of throws me a little bit when I view it. Oh, and I love the yellow with that sunny picture!!
SHCG: Beautiful! Love the overall colors of this LO. I like how everything but the title is tilted a bit. That stamp is awesome. Cute picture of a beautiful woman! I ribbon across the bottom is gorgeous! I very nicely done challenge LO. You had better luck than me on narrowing down a theme song and the one you chose is perfect for you.
SHCG: I love how this shot is cropped. I can't help but go straight for that grin which is perfect for your lo's journaling and the perfect accompaniment to the song. We usually blast that song when we're zooming down a highway on one of our escapist, impromptu road trips or short jaunts and we're in good spirits, along with other smile-happy songs. The simplicity of this sketch's design and your pp choices are fab! I like that trim, too. I'd keep the ink color for the lyrics, but since your journaling is also the same, I'm wondering if the bold black is the best choice given the happy feel to the page and the song title. Maybe blue or keep it black and use it as another excuse to stickle the edges of the letters? :D I'd also like to see two more of that cool paisley stamp (now I want one :p). One pointing downward at the skinny vee where the photo and lyrics meet and then a horizontal one below the pic with the paisley's point directed at the fatter vee again where the pic and lyrics meet. You know, rule of thirds thing and further drawing attention to that brilliant smile. CHEEEEESE! I'm also wondering about anchoring the paisley stamps with some simple flourish stamps to the title, photo, and lyric block. Dunno. As long as they don't all overembellish the nice, simple design. Hope you have acrylic stamps, or you can stamp on transparency remnants so that you can preview before deciding whether or not to commit. Yeesh. This was supposed to be a simple string of comments. Now look what I've done! Superb response to the challenge, Sharon! Beautiful day for a bee-YOU-tiful page! Now look what you've done--put me in an even better mood than I already was in after our walk for CS! Super CHEEEESE!
This is my response to fuchsboi/Brian's challenge for Scrap Happenzz Critique Group to scrap our theme songs. This is also a lift of Michelle Engel's "My Joy" from Scraptivity's 1/06 Notions newsletter.
It took me a while to figure out which song I'd choose, I have so many theme songs. Then I realized this song was staring me straight in the face from down in my own sb.com siggy line...
Journaling: "When asked to pick one theme song, I looked back on many other songs that have been my anthems for assorted moods, eras & feelings. And I choose U2's 'Beautiful Day.' Because it sums up really all I try to do in this world, everyday, just savor the beauty of the present. I think that's all we can do. This photo was taken while on a joyous family cruise in 4/2010 (speedboating in Cozumel w/ Greg) but ANY day can be lovely. There are millions of quiet & fulfilling moments to cherish every day. Life is amazing, beautiful & wondrous, let's relish every little bit of it while we're still around & alive in this world. And musically, this is as close to a perfect pop song as one can get, by a band I've loved since the early 80s. Love it, & usually try to live it.... (written 5/2010). :)"
The trim on the bottom is a holographic silver, which is shinier IRL (it's particularly special to me 'cause I bought it at a craft store in the Philippines). I almost printed the song lyrics in grey for a cool transparent look but thought it best that they be easily legible.
This was a fun challenge as I probably wouldn't have scrapped this otherwise. Thanks, Brian!
