The Christmas Tree Tale

During the crisp fall, when we kept bird seed in a large brown trash can, we discovered mice. They were very young and somehow got in and could not get out. We couldn’t bear to kill them, thus we let them go. Fast forward to December. Kirsten and her friend David were going to surprise us and put up the faux tree we kept in the storage shed. She noticed a hole in the bag and just thought it had torn while jostled in shed. They took the tree out of the bag, in the house and thousands of mouse poops fell out. She freaked out and they urgently dragged it all back outside to the deck. Evidently the mice had used the tree as some kind of evergreen playground. There was no way we were putting it up even though Page said we could shake all the poops out. We had to make an urgent trip to find a new tree. There were few fake ones left the week before Christmas. Therefore, a real one was purchased.
