I made these scrapbooks for my 2nd graders this year. I used 12 x 12 chipboard and cut it down to 4x6, which made it much cheapter! To make the insides more economical (I made 24 books!), I used their photos as a page rather than mounting and embellishing each picture and the opposing page. The kids loved them!
