Wow, this was a hard one to do. I have been waiting until the right time to do a lo about our dog and this conversation came up. It seemed like the right time.

The journaling reads:
We had the discussion when we took Jack to Grandpa and Grandma’s that Jack was sick and needed to go to a special doctor. The Doctor wasn’t able to help Jack and he died and he was now in heaven with God and we wouldn’t see him again.

Fast-forward two months.

Molly: Mommy, when can I play with Jack again?

Mommy: Honey we can’t play with Jack, he is in heaven now.

Molly: Can we go visit him?

Mommy: No honey, we can’t go see him.

Molly: How did he get there, can I go too?

How to respond to that question?

Mommy: When Jack died angels came and took him to heaven, now he lives with God.

Molly: Can we go see him?

Mommy: No honey, heaven is far up in the sky and we don’t go there until it is just the right time.

Molly: Is it time now?

Mommy: Only God knows when.

Molly: Can’t my {guardian} angel take me there?

Mommy: No your angel is there just to watch over you and keep you safe, she doesn’t do transports.

Molly: Does she talk to me when I‘m sleeping? Does she wake me up at night? Can I ask Angel a question?

Mommy: What will you ask?

Molly: For a ride to see Jack, he was my best friend and I miss him.

Mommy: {silence as I tear up}

How presumptuous of me to think that the loss of our dog would go unfelt and unnoticed by you. You continuously surprise me.
