This is what my journaling in the library pocket says:
When I was thinking about what matters most to me, I immediately thought of a bunch of things, both serious and silly- my family, my friends, education, peace, having fun, chocolate… Instead of stopping there though, I wanted to find some sort of common theme. What encompasses all the things that matter to me? My mind went in two different directions.

First, I thought about the one thing that I wish for a newborn baby when I look at it for the first time- happiness. Many different things encompass happiness: family, friends, health, love, purpose… What makes someone happy is unique for each person, but I think happiness is something that universally we strive for.

My second line of thought was more personal- what makes me tick, what guides me in what I do with my life. I believe that one of the ideas that drives my life in everything that I do now and hope to do in the future is the belief that the world can be a better place. I believe that helping others, being nice and friendly to everyone, and working towards large, sometimes abstract goals means something. The idea that the world can be improved keeps me going.
