I began the month of May with a goal to find new ways to use Glimmer Mist and other misting dyes - it become my "May Misting Month". Each day was filled with progress and learning. At the last minute I was able to get into a class on misting taught by Brenda Martell (co-owner of Paper Metal Scrapppers in Payson, AZ - one of my favorite stores in AZ!) where I learned some new ways to look at misting. This layout and the five after are a sampling of what I learned from this amazing adventure.
I had six photos to get onto one layout and knew I'd be able to do so if I used a graphic-style layout configuration. I also had some solid paper from Studio Calico paper which didn't compete with the photos.
I drew a grid on the backside of the the paper so I was sure my photos would fit. I had to keep in mind that the layout would be flip-flopped when completed which kept me mindful of the photo placement. I machine stitched on the pencil lines and trimmed the paper away from each photo section leaving a 1/4"' border that I turned under from the front side of the layout. You can see the stitching lines because I inked them with darker ink and added some misting to alter the paper too. Too keep the misted paper from warping I placed it under the piece of glass I have on my workspace for a few minutes.
To learn more about grids and graphic-style layouts see the ebook, "New to Scrapbooking Quick Guide 1 - Easy Graphic-Style and Color Blocked Layouts." Though the book says it's for beginners I use it often to spark my creativity to do layouts in a whole new way as you can see here.
