Journaling:
As rewarding as it is, motherhood is anything but easy. It’s easy to get caught up in the everyday grind; the crying, the poopy diapers, the sticky fingers and faces, the constant dodging of toys, the trails of cracker crumbs, the piling laundry, the whining, the full on temper tantrums--- the list goes on. There are days I wonder why my dream was ever to “just be a mom.” Frustrations only a mother can understand.
But then this happened. The other day when I was just trying to get through the day, I was crouching down cleaning up- I am sure one of your many messes- when out of the blue you laid your little head on my shoulder and these simple words came out of your mouth, “Love you Mommy.”
Never in my life did words pull at my heart strings more than that. I was floored! Immediately I pulled you close and said, “I love you too Jackson. I always will. Don’t you ever forget it!”
So yes, being a mother can be draining, and there will still always be “those days”, but then there are moments like this; moments I wish I could freeze time and hold onto you forever; moments like this where I remember EXACTALY why it was my dream to just be a mom.
