Journaling: It’s moments like these when time stands still and I can for a few minutes forget the day to day struggles you must endure. It’s moments like these when I truly believe you are honestly happy and are able to get a glimpse of life as a 6 year old without a care or worry in the world. The happy and silly Grace which existed before the painful monthly injections, the seizures, the rages, the brain surgery and the months of rehabilitation appears. That smile, those silly faces and the inflection in your voice are the signs that under the side effects of medications and the break through seizures and rages you are still here. It brings a sense of calmness to me as a mother that through it all you will be okay. It’s moments like this which provide confirmation time does heal and that as you get older and are able to communicate your feeling better that moments like these will become the ‘norm’ versus the exception.
