The brilliant sunburst background in Carole's beautiful Butterfly Dawn kit made me want to find a photo to make use of it, and looking through my files I found these photos my daughter Nikki had taken of some of the hummingbirds that feed at my parents' ranch. My folks have been feeding the hummingbirds there for many years and now have 20 feeders around the front of the house, with so many hummingbirds coming in that they consume around six quarts of "nectar" each day! Bird banders have started coming to the ranch to band the hummingbirds since there are so many--in just two separate two-day banding sessions in the last two months they banded a total of 474 hummingbirds! I've never been able to get any good photos with my little point-and-shoot since most of the birds come in around dusk and dawn, and flit around so fast, however with one of Nikki's super duper cameras she was able to capture some wonderful ones. I found this poem online which I loved and thought would make the perfect journaling, and further accented the page with Erica Belton's wonderful hummingbird overlay, found in her Just Doodles Freebie.
