If you have ever seen the animated movie WALL•E, you will know that the message is that we have to look after planet Earth. It is one of my favorite animated movies. The majority of the supplies I used were leftover scraps. Leftover scraps of paper were mounted on to white cardstock to create this uneven quilted pattern. Paper scraps were used to matte the photo, and create and matte the little caption. The two left shoes came were leftover from the little gingerbread hiker man I made. Leftover green paper was used to create the plant growing out of the shoe. I used chipboard letters and leftover navy blue cardstock for the letters in the title. The letter "V" was turned upside-down to create the letter "A". Rather than waste alot of adhesive to mount the letters, I anchored the letters with brads. I bought the WALL•E stickers along time ago to do a scrapbook page about the movie. Remeber the robot that went nuts cleaning up the trail of dirt WALL•E left behind ? Well I added a trail of buttons for him to clean up. I used only a little bit of glue runner to mount the paper for the background.

I have discovered than the best people (including myself) tend to make the best looking scrapbook layouts and other projects when they use the supplies that they have on hand and not go out to buy stuff specifically for the project.

Reduce. Reuse, Recycle.

P.S. I bought a blue bin from the dollar store. I keep it in my bedroom to use as a recycling bin. I put in the bin cardboard packaging, old magazines, plastic packaging, containers, etc. When it gets full, I dump it into the large recycling bin which gets wheeled out to the curb for the city recyclers to haul the stuff away. We tend to live in a society in which we are very very lazy. If something like a recycling bin isn't within arms reach we tend to drop it where we are. We tend to waste alot of things, and when we want to get rid of it, we lose patience and have the "get rid of it now" attitude. We need to learn to have more patience. When you are travelling on the bus/subway/streetcar, hold on to that newspaper until you find a recycle bin. Donate clothing, toys, books, etc. to non-profit organizations, and needy people. Trade or sell it at a yard sale, online, etc. Also, become innovative by reusing old items for craft projects, etc.

If we don't get our act together, we'll be sorry someday.
