Journalling reads: "Our first night in Paris we went to see the Eiffel Tower. It was not quite what we expected – it was blue! I was absolutely positive it always had white lights on it, so the blue was quite a surprise. We walked around it, under it, beside it, and took lots and lots of pictures.
It wasn’t until recently I discovered why the Eiffel Tower was blue. It was tuned blue on June 30th, 2008 for 2 months to mark the beginning of France’s six-month presidency of the European Union. It also featured at the same time a ring of stars. This means when Lynda and I were in Paris we just caught the last week or so of it being blue ☺ I think that’s pretty cool!"
