Actually it can take up to a year to regain feeling in his face. But that is his only residual effect from everything, so we are lucky! It really puts things into prespective when something like this happens! Thanks for looking!

My son Ryan is 17 years old. he lives for the game of Basketball, it is his life! March 29th he had a horrible injury that occured on the basketball court. He was at acollege being recruited, playing in a game when he incurred a one on one head collison with a 23 year old Senior player on the college team. He suffered a broken cheekbone, eyesocket and sinus cavity. We were devastated by the injury! 4 days later he had a 4 hour reconstructive surgery to repair all of the injuries. 2 plastic surgeons worked for 4 hours on his face, inserting 3 titanium plates and 14 screws to hold his cheekbone in place.( We were so fortunate even through all of this, in that the only muscle that stayed intact during the injury, was the muscle that held his eye in place! ) Ryan had an incision made beneath his eye and inside his mouth to make all of the repairs. he received over 72 "outter stitches". 2 months later, witht he consturction of this face mask to protect him, he was back on the court full throttle! Almost 3 months to the date of surgery he has accepted a full scholarship to the University of Evansville Indiana to play Divison 1 basketball in 2011! We are blessed!
