This SB page was so much fun for me to make!

Justin and I don't have a dog right now, but we've considered a dog for at least a year. Our plan is to adopt a retired racing Greyhound from a Greyhound rescue group!

Journaling:
"Justin and I have discussed the possibility of getting a dog for a year. And along the way, we've researched many breeds, and we've also considered adopting a mixed breed from an animal shelter.

But, recurring throughout our talks has been the Greyhound.

Seemingly unexpectedly, we learned in June about the annual Mounds Dog Festival event, sponsored by Mounds Pet Foods in Madison, WI. We read that many shelters and rescue groups would be on site, and we knew we had to attend!

We arrived when the doors opened at 10am, and we headed to the Greyhound Pets of America booth. GPA rescues ex-racing Greyhounds who otherwise may be killed since they are deemed "unprofitable" in the industry, and then places them in their forever homes.

And, at 11:30am, we left the GPA booth. We spoke with GPA for an hour and a half! We also visited no other booth at the festival, since we knew our hearts were absolutely set. And, the rest is history!

Since then, we've moved forward with planning to adopt from GPA.

June 13th, 2010, was the day that we reaffirmed our preference of the Greyhound in our year-long dog talks.

June 13th, 2010 was the day we fell in love.

June 13th, 2010, we think, was meant to be!"
