We drove up for a spring family day trip for opening weekend at the Ozark Folk Center. I like all things old fashioned, and was born too late to be a homesteader, but I sure love to read and learn about that life on the farm that my grandparents and great grandparents lived. I wrote tidbits about soap making on this layout inspired by a design called "I love you, Mom and your tummy too" on page 53 of a Scrapbook Trends Magazine. Her tip was if you have a large title write around it. I don't know the designers name or the month and year of the issue, if you do, please e-mail me so I can give proper credit. I tore the idea out and recycled the rest of the magazine. Thanks to my BFF Olescrapper for the white buttons and white rub ons. Also, thanks to her for the "ugly" PP that she found at Good Will, and sent to me, as it worked perfectly for this layout, and the "ugly" duckling became a "beautiful" swan in the right layout design! LOL It was the perfect old fashioned purple and black that I needed - and best of all everything I used came from my stash or was a gift. Frugal lay out day! I was going to stitch the black on the machine, but a summer thunder storm blew up, and the power went out, so I used my signo white pen to draw stitchs by the window. I liked the chalkboard effect of the white writing on the black paper, and the lollipop flowers reminded me of ones a child might have drawn on a blackboard. I tried to cut all my photos exactly the same size, but as with everything I cut, there is variation, so c'est la vie, and its whimsical... not perfect, but who cares?! In the final product, its all good. If you use a signo pen, hold it at 90 degrees, it works better! (the voice of experience!)
