This newspaper pic was waiting for me on the bulletin board at work, back in 1997. I wouldn't have it today except the co-worker who cut it out had done a self-laminating job on it using clear packing tape! HA!The man with his Look-a-like dog and I are slapping a high five after winning the contest. I did not know about any contests at the park that weekend! I'm kinda weird that way :)
The story...
I had recently adopted my Jack Russell terrier, Gizmo. She was 4 mos. old ( she is now over 13 yrs.). I made my husband,Fred, take us to the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Alachua Co. Humane Society. Unbeknowst to me, they had a look-a-like contest! Jackpot! I had, for no logical reason, painted my face to look like hers. We were 1 of three winners and I got a free full body massage as my prize! Strange twist of fate, This is where I began my side job as a face painter and as a pet portrait artist....you just never know what the road ahead has waiting for you! P.S. This was approximately 5 mos after being hit by a car and suffering a serious brain injury...Fred agreed to buy Gizmo as a way to help in my healing process and to help with the depression that comes with this uncertain and long recovery!! LOVE YOU FRED!!!
