great journaling! I know how you feel....for many years i bit my nails, so i started to get acrylics...but since they banned them in the hospital setting a few years back i was back to biting again....one day i decided to get a manicure and it helped...then i went every two weeks and i finally stopped biting them....but it only took 38 years! lol i love the distressing and the photo work! keep up the good work!
i really love the different distressing techniques you used. pulling away parts of the flourish is a brilliant idea, and i love the letters, too. petty!
wow, I LUV that you journaled in the negative space of your photo & tho pop of color your fingernails adds to the LO! GREAT job w/the week 1 sketch! : ] FYI~I've been a nail-biter since childhood too!
love the editing on the photo and the page in general! I'm also a recovering nail biter. I find using that "bite no more" chemical stuff really does help me. I can go for very long stretches without biting, until one breaks, adn then it's all down hill from there!
I love b/w photos with bits of color. I really need a better photo editing on my comp. Great job with all the distressing and the added flourish. Love it!
Super lo. Love the color on the nails. As a nailbiter myself, I applaud your effort! Such a hard habit to break (song from Chicago, couldn't resist-sorry.)

Hi Melissa,
So many things that are wonderful about this, the main thing being the contrast between the soft pink and the edgy texture. Really such a nice job.
This is probably one of the most distressed pages I have ever made! LOL
A couple of challenges here: Journaling Junkie Challenge 85, http://journalingjunkie.blogspot.com Use Your Supplies, Week 4 with a twist to distress the photo. I frayed the edges and then inked them pink. I had to have 5 total distress techniques. I frayed (1), inked (2), distress stitched (3), distress Stickled (4), crumpled (5), pulled away parts of the Prima flourish (6), and curled the corners of the white embossed paper(7). This is also week 1 for the monthly sketch challenge, with the twist. The title is from Offspring's Bad Habit, which fit, although their song was about road rage. lol.
The page initially started out clean and beautifully embellished, but I figured halfway through the design that nail biting isn't pretty and makes your hands and fingers look terrible, so I wanted my page to reflect that. :)
The photo is a PhotoShop edit by me. I selected my pretty pink fingernails (painted just for the photo, of course. I've already chewed it off, though the fingernail length is still there), copied the layer, then ran CoffeeShop Photography's Chocolate B/W on the original layer. After that, I took the selection and reversed it then cleared that selection, leaving only the pink fingernails on the top layer. Then I flattened the image before printing. :)
