I love your umbrella! The ripping technique you used to make the ocean is excellent also! The colors are bright and vivid and remind me so much of summer--wonderful job!
Aha, Vellum! Vellum is so versatile, here I have torn it in strips for the sun and sewn around the face of the sun. The waves are made of four different coloured blue vellums. I have used glossy accents on the ridges of the waves to indicate water. The umbrellas are made of vellum, outlined with pen. Glued onto plain white paper to give luminosity to the colours. The umbrellas are then put onto foam squares to give a 3d effect. I hand painted "sand" and "water" around the frames of the photos, with water colour pencils. The title is done by hand, using coloured pencils and feltip pen. The sand around the base of the umbrella is real! Used glossy accents to stick it on the paper. Had a lot of fun.
