Krissy...I love this LO. It is so creative and absolutely stunning. Your distressing looks beautiful. I have lots of family issues too. I'm glad this was therapeutic for you!
Soooooooo cool! Yes, I totally agree with you - scrapping can be very therapeutic . . . I am glad that it was for you. And wow oh wow! What a beautifully sinister layout you created!
I did this for the Darker Side Challenge and for my Book of Me using a sketch created by Alda (flyingunicorn) over at ScrappyChicCafe.ning.com. The challenge was to scrap the darker side of me. I've got some serious mom issues, which seriously affected the way I viewed myself for a long time. No need for details, but this was extremely therapeutic. I used the song lyrics from the musical Spring Awakening for my journaling (one of the best newer musicals out there and how I first heard about Lea Michelle before her Glee days, but I'm rambling...) Lyrics are: Mama who bore me, Mama who gave me, No way to handle things, Who made me so bad. Mama the weeping, Mama the angels, No sleep in Heaven or Bethlehem.
The picture doesn't show it too well, but the black behind my back are devil's wings and tail printed onto a transparency. I love the artwork which is full of bright carnival colors but with sinister characters. The picture is me when I was six in my recital costume for The Bunny Rabbit Blues.
