This is so gorgeous! So many juicy bits to look at..my eyes were traveling everything..the clusters of gears and blue going down the lady's hair is stunning! Foucault..gads I hadn't heard that name since my university years..did a quick trip down memory lane!
ooooooooooo LIZ!! So very very cool and profound and FABULOUS! Gorgeous altering of the woman with gears in her hair (I have bad hair days like that too sometimes! lol!) Seriously, this is amazing...all the altered elements and creative details ....sooo wONDERFUL! And that quote...gives me goosebumps! AWESOME!
Sooooooooo wonderfully steampunk!!!!! I love this! I really like the quote from your class and . . . that lady holding the mirror with the eye is super cool. They go together perfectly!!!
Wow!!!!!!! you did an absolutely stunning job here!! Love everything about it..I have this amazing photo of DH's grandmother sitting in front of a mirror that has side mirrors so that there is six of her...That quote would be perfect for that LO when I do it. Hope you wouldn't mind if I used it too!!
wow-fabulous page!very creative and eyecatching! My son is interested in philosophy and familiar with Foucault,so I showed it to him;he thought the quote and your interpretation of it were really interesting too! love your roses and the use of the gears...fave for me!
So I had this G45 paper sitting on my stash and I couldn't take it, it's so beautiful. But the question was what to do with it? Well, I decided to go the steampunkish route (of course it is the steampunk debutante). Made Tim's roses and dipped them in my own mix of Perfect Pearls and distress reinkers.
One of my big papers for class this summer was about Michel Foucault, the French philosopher. There's something so beautifully weird about the lady holding the mirror and the eye is staring at her. This is Foucault's quote:
"The mirror is, after all, a utopia, since it is a placeless place. In the mirror, I see myself there where I am not, in an unreal, virtual space that opens up behind the surface; I am over there, there where I am not, a sort of shadow that gives my own visibility to myself, that enables me to see myself there where I am absent: such is the utopia of the mirror." TFL!
