This is awesome Alycia! I can relate so well because I have a husband in the Navy and have endured several deployments....I know, been there!!! great LO!
So pretty Alycia, I started to tear up too! I can't imagine how hard it is for you having him gone but I'll bet the scrapbooking of his journeys and your journey's really helps.
I'm glad you recreated this layout. It's really strong. The message tugs at my heart strings too. I really like that the photo is of his back, it gives it a moodier feel and really fits the "miss you" theme. The urban coture rub ons give such an Italian renaissance art feel to this as well. Well done.

I really love this--many of the elements--the torn strip of patterned paper. The transparency, the new BG rub-ons, the photo. You must have been SICK to lose the published one--it is so scary to send layouts in the maiL! Great job on the re-make, it is gorgeous! Good Luck!
This is so beautiful!!! Love the journaling!! Give him a big thanks from me for serving our country. And much thanks goes to you for letting him go!!!! TFS and good luck in the contest!
This is the first layout I've done with the new BG and I LOVE IT! This is also probably the simplest layout that I've ever done, and I'm so happy with it!!
I have a layout that's very similar to this one in my gallery, but sadly the magazine that it was published in last year didn't return it to me properly and it was lost. So, I've chosen to recreate it for the contest.
I took this picture of my husband while he was home for leave in May of 2005. At this point he had 6 months of his deployment left. While he was home we rented a few cabins along the Oregon coast and had an awesome time!
Journaling reads: (wrote may 2005) A week ago you were home and I was able to hold you in my arms; I was able to look into your gorgeous eyes and tell you that I love you.
Since you’ve been gone I’ve had to adjust again; I’ve had to remind myself over and over that I can’t kiss you and that I can’t touch you. That I won’t hear a response when I tell you that I love you.
I have to fall asleep with out you next to me. That’s the hardest adjustment for me to make. During the day I can do things to keep myself busy, but when I rest my head on my pillow all I’m able to think about is how much I wish you were lying next to me. How much I miss the warmth of your breathe on my neck and the security I feel when I’m wrapped in your arms.
I miss you. I missed you the day you arrived for our two weeks, but I miss you so much more now…
Thanks so much for looking!!
