Wow ladies, I am super impressed with all the feedback that I received!! Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote to help me out!! I have decided on the Ikea desk!!!! My room re-do will have a grand revealing in about a week or so!
I like the look of the Ikea, however I like the Staples desk better. It has more work space and room for a computer. Also, if you put the Ikea desk against a wall, how would you get to the bottom shelves?
ikea. i have the exact same desk except it is the natural color and it holds a lot of stuff. on the very bottom i put all my stacks of paper so the middle shelfs won't bend. it is easy to clean the desk too. :)
Most definitely Ikea. If you can afford it, there s so much more potential in that desk than the other. Think of all the supplies you can hide in boxes in that thing! The other desk has no hiding spots.
I have been drooling over that IKEA desk in pictures of scraprooms for quite awhile now! I love that one, and it looks like I'm not alone! Can't wait to see pice of your room with your new desk, whichever one you end up getting!
Since your criterion is "which one looks better", I say Ikea. At the urging of several people here on SB.com, I finally hit our local Ikea ~2 mos. ago. IMHO the Expedit shelf/desk combo is really nice, & the white is the nicest -- very shiny/classy looking. HTH!
Get the ikea! It's easy to put together. It's been around and will be around for a while. the cubes are perfect scrap size, and there are lots of add ons to go with it.
Ikea....I am getting these shelves and I love how big they are and that you can expand it more. A friend has this exact desk and LOVES IT.
Ikea gets my vote.
I have the ikea one and it is brilliant....the desk is plenty big enough and the storage on the shelves is great...my dh even customised mine if you check in my gallery.....i definately vote IKEA !!!! And you can add to it later if you want.....I've got some of the doors and drawers too...and your albums fit in nicely .....I could go on and on...
I love the ikea desk, but with an L shaped desk you can have work zones.... I guess the real question is are you one of those people (like me) that leave a project out until it is complete even if it takes a few days...
I think it depends on whether you need more storage or desktop space. The Ikea desk has the big shelf system but the desk look a little small. The Staples desk seems to be the opposite. I actually have the Ikea shelf without the desk and an L-shaped desk (without the storage( from Staples LOL. Works perfectly for me! Good luck. I know it's tough to find the perfect desk.
Ikea definately. My friend has one of these and I absolutely love it. I want one of my own...soon maybe. The only bad thing I can say about it is if you room is small and you get the larger or largest shelf...you might feel a little boxed in. My friend got the larger one with the desk and her room is very small. I feel boxed in when I sit at her desk, but if you have a larger room...it should be fine!
The price of these desk does not matter because one is far away and I spend the same regardless because of gas. So, I am only concerned with what they look like and the usability of these.
